The Black Phone
The director's contained scarefest holds up well despite the lack of a follow-up. Taking place in 1970s Colorado, a series of kidnappings has made the youth on edge. It's a spectacle of tacky decor, excessive cosmetics and insincerity, though the lead actress achieves to show Tammy Faye with compassion. Tuesday 14 October, 1.15am, the Film4 channel
