Iran Declares It Could Return to American Nuclear Talks if Handled with 'Respect' and 'Respect'
Tehran is ready to reinitiate nuclear discussions with the United States as long as it is handled with "dignity" and "honor", Iran's top diplomat has announced.
The Iranian diplomat said solely negotiations worked, and shared fresh requests had been made by mediators to reopen negotiations with the US government. He said Iran had zero undeclared nuclear sites, and Iran had not yet reached a point to authorize the International Atomic Energy Agency to inspect attacked atomic facilities for security reasons.
Navigating a Complex Path
The foreign minister is treading a complex course since Iran wishes not to appear to be proceeding from a position of disadvantage, and he insisted repeatedly that Iran had come out stronger militarily and emotionally from the coordinated strike on its atomic facilities in June.
He was talking at a defense forum in Tehran where he reaffirmed that Iran had "an absolute privilege to enrich uranium within its borders that it will never give up" – the main reason of the deadlock in the previous talks.
Prior Talks Suddenly Terminated
The prior phases of talks between the US and Iran were concluded unexpectedly and acrimonious conclusion on 12 June when the Israeli government, with Washington's assistance, attacked Iranian nuclear sites in a two-week conflict that culminated with Donald Trump declaring the facilities had been obliterated. Following this, EU nations employed their authority to reimpose global restrictions, but Iran asserts they have not had a major impact.
Ideal Resolution Suggested
Tehran representatives claimed they felt they had reached a "ideal resolution" to the uranium processing matter in prior discussions, when it was agreed an domestic cooperative with Washington's engagement could process nuclear material. Both sides would have been able to declare success since local refinement would have continued and the US could be confident that Iran's nuclear programme was solely for peaceful purposes.
It had not been settled in the talks that US nuclear scientists could work inside Iran, but that was a reasonable assumption of the consortium proposal. Officials claimed on multiple occasions they had secured an understanding with Washington's diplomat the American negotiator only for the arrangement to collapse due to "opponents in the US".
Current Status
Iranian officials declared the consortium offer was now no longer available, but it seems highly likely the suggestion could be reintroduced in certain ways if talks resume.
Trump recently stated he had been getting signals that Iran sought to reopen negotiations, but confidentially Iranian officials state they are not yet receiving consistent overtures from America either directly or from important Middle Eastern intermediaries, such as Qatar, Egypt, the Omani authorities and the Saudi kingdom. The Iranian foreign ministry has been accused of non-responsiveness in the aftermath of the US president's straightforward manner, but Iran asserts dialogue is not part of a spectacle.
Negotiating Stance
In his address to the forum, designed to portray the US as a dominant force that misuses the concept of international law, the foreign minister declared the fortnight-long engagement showed the clash could not be resolved by military means. He said the assaults commenced with a US demand for an total Iran submission and ended with an absolute demand for a truce.
Iran is convinced the initial Israeli attacks were carried out with complete American awareness and collaboration, making trust difficult to reestablish.
Dialogue Continues the Final Answer
Araghchi stated: "Tehran was not the one that had abandoned negotiations; it was America and the western countries that had repeatedly attempted to impose their will during the talks. Negotiations can still be active and remains the ultimate resolution to address conflicts, but its criteria, regulations and tenets must be respected."
"In case they address to the nation of Iran with the language of respect and respect, they will obtain a answer in the same approach."
Repair and Rebuilding
In what is characterized by Iran's diplomats as the battle of recovery and reconstruction, the foreign minister stated he was certain Iran's military capacities "are considerably enhanced than prior to 13 or 14 June of this year. All our capabilities have been rebuilt. We gained many lessons from this conflict; we have come to know our personal limitations and the shortcomings of the adversary."
He added: "We effectively endured this war. Our enrichment knowledge, which they planned to destroy, stays intact. The installations and gear, if eliminated, will be reconstructed; what is essential is the will of the nation of Iran and then the social solidarity that they aimed at, but failed to break. The citizens of Tehran have developed stronger, more united, and more endorsing of the administration and the nation in the wake of this assault."
